First meeting of MIMY National Expert Committee (NEC) for Norway

Members of NEC in Norway came together in October 2021 for a first exchange and discussion

On October 1st 2021 the MIMY research team from the University of Bergen in Norway had an online meeting with our National Expert Committee (NEC). The members of the Norwegian NEC are:

Dr. Hilde Lidén (research professor at the Institute for Social Research in Oslo, Norway, and one of the project leaders of the EU project VULNER) Dr. Fungisai Puleng Gwanzura Ottemöller (associate professor at the Department of Health Promotion and Development, University of Bergen, working with topics such as refugee inclusion, health promotion, and strengths/resource based approaches) Svanhild Alver (municipal officer with long experience in child protective services working with unaccompanied minors (UAM)) Leïla Rezzouk (leader of the local organization Papillon that works with young women with migration backgrounds)

During the meeting Prof. Jan Skrobanek introduced the main structure and objectives of the MIMY project, and research associates Rebecca Dyer Ånensen and Yannet Gudeta Urgessa presented some of the first results of the project based on the conceptual and theoretical developments from WP1 and the interviews with stakeholders from WP5 and WP6. This was followed by a very fruitful discussion with the national experts about the benefits and challenges with regard to the structure of the project, interesting overlaps with the VULNER project, and how the MIMY project can both utilize the valuable expertise of practitioners working with young migrants in vulnerable conditions as well as how the findings can benefit these practitioners.
