The MRG is an institutional member of International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion (IMISCOE), Europe’s largest network of scholars in the area of migration and integration. The other USFD team members are Dr Hannah Lewis and Dr Thea Shahrokh (Department of Sociological Studies) and Ryan Powell (Department of Urban Studies and Planning). SCS has a strong track record of securing externally funded research from a range of sources nationally and internationally, and through its three subject areas – sociology, social policy and social work – seeks to contribute to theory, policy and practice developments. The Department of Urban Studies and Planning (USP) is a world-leading centre for research and education in planning and a range of urban-focussed disciplines. USP ranked as the top urban studies/planning department in the country in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework with 85% of research rated as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. USP has a strong track record of securing research funding from a range of organisations and has a strong commitment to enhancing understanding of dynamic cities, and how we might better plan and manage them for all citizens.
